Chrysler Group LLC has announced a recall for certain model year 2014 Ram ProMaster vehicles (manufactured July 1, 2013, through December 10, 2013) over fears that the accelerator pedals could become stuck.

The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a press release stating that “in the affected vehicles, if the accelerator pedal is pushed downward at a certain angle, the pedal may get stuck in the wide open throttle position due to interference with the accelerator pedal stopper… increasing the risk of a crash.”

If you’ve been injured in an accident with a Ram Promaster van, it is important that your attorney is aware of this recall as it may greatly affect your case.

Luckily, these vehicles were equipped with a “brake override system” which can recognize when the gas and brake pedals are both engaged. In the event of a stuck pedal, pushing on the brake should enable to driver to slow to a stop and turn off the vehicle.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be offered a free replacement of the accelerator pedal stopper, but the recall is not slated to begin until March. Owners of the 2014 Ram Promaster can contact Chrysler directly at 1-800-853-1403 (mention recall “P02”).
