Unfortunately, there is more bad news for homeowners in south Florida as a result of faulting building by them homebuilder KB Homes.

UPDATE: The number of balconies ruled unsafe inside the Willowbrook town home community in East Manatee continue to rise.

As of Wednesday, 32 balconies inside the 272-unit community have been deemed unsafe by Manatee County building inspectors. Inspectors have surveyed 59 units since Aug. 3.

The balconies were deemed unsafe for having sinking floors, loose guard rails and general deterioration. The county will mail notifications to the property owner, which is the Willowbrook Condo Association, stating it needs to address the unsafe structure within 30 days. If the association does not abate the unsafe balconies, the county will step in and seal access to the decks.

The county can issue a lien on the property to recover repair costs.

Prior to the inspections, the association submitted a claim to KB Home, the developer of the community, regarding the damages. The details of that claim have not been made available.
