Ford Motor Company has made an official announcement on Wednesday, regarding a recall of three SUV models due to potential fire risks.

The recall specifically pertains to 142,000 Lincoln MKC SUVs manufactured between the years 2015 and 2019. Ford has reported a total of 20 incidents related to fires, with seven of them occurring since December. The automaker suspects that the source of these fires is located beneath the vehicle’s hood, in close proximity to the 12-volt battery.

Aside from the Lincoln MKC, Ford has also received reports concerning certain 2021 models of Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, as confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The total number of affected vehicles amounts to more than 39,000, according to the NHTSA.

In light of these developments, Ford advises owners of these vehicles to park them away from garages and structures until further investigations are conducted. To determine if their vehicle is subject to the recall, owners can visit the official website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
