A recent outbreak of E. coli, which has left at least 26 people sick in three states, has been linked to Athertone Foods Inc – who distributes salad products to Trader Joe’s, Walgreens & Whole Foods. Officials are asking anyone who bought the company’s salads and/or wraps to throw them away. E. coli is an organism that can cause serious food-borne illness if consumed. The products have a “USE BY” date of 10/01/13 through 11/15/13 and were sold in Texas, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The affected products include:
- Trader José’s Mexicali Brand Salad with Chili Lime Chicken (SKU 97216)
- Trader Joe’s Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken (SKU 99050)
- Trader Joe’s Classic Greek Salad (SKU 83579)
In an announcement, Trader Joe’s asks that if you purchased these items, please do not eat them. You may return them to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund or dispose of them.
